SFC praises passage of TICKET Act from Senate Commerce Committee

As we’ve written about previously, ticketing in America is broken. Today the Senate Commerce Committee took a major step to fixing that by passing the TICKET Act (S. 281) by voice vote.

Fans have called out for the TICKET Act for many years. Today Chairman Cruz, Ranking Member Cantwell, and Senators Schmitt and Markey answered that call and advanced commonsense consumer protections in ticketing that will help sports fans buy tickets to their favorite games and protect them from deceptive sales. We thank them for their tireless leadership on this issue, and urge the Senate to pass the bill quickly.
— Brian Hess, Executive Director

The bill represents the most comprehensive ticketing consumer protection legislation in nearly a decade. Specifically it:

  • Mandates all-in pricing upfront – No more hidden fees—the first number you see is the last number you see.

  • Bans deceptive ticketing – No more buying a promise for a ticket, now you'll actually be buying tickets.

  • Ends deceptive websites – No more lying about whether the reseller is who they say they are.

  • Creates refund requirements – Stop waiting to get your money back when a show is cancelled or postponed for a long time.

  • Requests an FTC BOTS Report – The FTC will finally answer the biggest question plaguing fans, "Why are there so many bots?!"

Before the TICKET Act makes its way to the floor, Congress wants to hear from you! Fill out the form on this page to write your Senator and tell them to support the TICKET Act.
