We have two Advisory Boards, one for non-profit organizations and individuals that support our agenda and one for our corporate contributors. Under our Articles and Bylaws, non-profit and corporate Advisory Board members do not have control over the organization. The statements made and the positions taken by SportsFans.org do not necessarily reflect the views of the corporate sponsors or the non-profit organizations on the Advisory Boards.
Advisory Board members include the Media Access Project, Verizon, Willamette University Law Professor Jeffrey Standen, Time Warner Cable, Penn State University Law Professor Steve Ross and the Computer & Communications Industry Association.
Although decisions are made by the Board of Directors, Advisors are consulted from time to time as positions are developed and their views are taken into account. They do not vote and do not assume responsibility for the positions of the organization either as a group or individually. Sometimes Advisors recuse themselves because of a conflict of interest resulting from a client matter or present or past governmental role, or because of lack of relevant expertise or time. Nonetheless, the Advisory Board provides a unique resource of great experience and wisdom that can be counted on to participate influentially as SportsFans.org operates from day to day.
