Not surprisingly, federal mediation between the NHL owners and NHLPA did not work. After two days of negotiations mediation was deemed a failure. It is looking more and more like the 2012-2013 NHLseason will be meeting the same fate as the 2004-2005 season. The NHL will be able to proudly declare that for the second time they will be the only North American professional sports league to cancel an entire season. Take a bow Gary Bettman, that is something to be very proud of.
Lost in the insanity of this mind numbingly ridiculous work stoppage is the biggest story of all. It is important to remember that the owners and players are fighting over $3.3 billion of NHL fan’s hard
earned money. To think about how little the owners and players respect their paying customers makes this fan want to drop the gloves with both sides.
One last friendly reminder to my fellow hockey fans; the only way we will ever make a difference is with a collective voice. That is the collective voice of millions of hockey fans who could easily put both sides in their place.
