New York Times: Fan Advocacy Group Wants Seat at Negotiations

John Branch of the New York Times asks a relevant question about the contentious NFL labor negotiations:

“Should fans be present if and when the N.F.L. and the players union continue face-to-face negotiations on a new labor contract?”

SFC believes the answer is clear.  Yes! 

If sports fans’ emotions will be toyed with each day as we approach and God forbid in the wake of the March 3rd deadline when the current collective bargaining agreement expires, then we should have a seat at the table.  If sports fans can’t get off the hook for the billions of dollars in taxes and tax subsidies for stadiums which fuel the sport’s success without any return on investment in the event of a lockout, then we deserve to see a 2011/12 NFL season.

Is it too much to ask to be a part of the negotiation? 

The answer again is simple.  No.
